YEAR FOR PRIESTS: Pope Benedict has declared a “Year for Priests” beginning on June 19th the Feast of the Sacred Heart. With the announcement of this Year for Priests, the Pope has declared St. John Vianney the Universal Patron of Priests on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the death of the Cure d’Ars. ST. THE ANNUAL DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO LOURDES – ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP: Offerings and names will be taken after all Masses weekend 28th June for enrolment as Associate Members. The money donated is used to offer fares and in some cases, free places to sick and needy pilgrims who otherwise could not afford to make their pilgrimage. It is also used to purchase much needed medical equipment for use in the care of the sick at Lourdes. CAMARA –Springclean, Reuse, Recycle and Educate in Africa. Camara take in used computers, refurbish them and send them to schools in Africa.. We need: Base units, Monitors, Power Leads and Mice. BERNARD’S SCOUT LEADERS: Due to the increase in numbers of children joining the 6th Antrim Scout Unit, we need new leaders for all sections, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts to help continue with its range of adventurous fun and community based activities. Scouting is focused on developing character and good moral compass. Some people think scouting is about merit badges and camping, but that is just the programme used to deliver a value based experience that hopefully children will keep with them for the rest of their lives. All leaders will be provided with training and support. There will be mandatory Child Protection checks.
